
Venerable Sayadaw U Kuṇḍa dhāna
Sayadaw U Kunda dhana, future Dawei Pa Auk Tawya Meditation Centre Sayadaw, was born into the family of Father, U Kyin Swan and Mother, Daw San Yee on 8th September 1969.
He studied at No. 2 State High School, Dawei from Kindergarten to Matriculation. Being bright and studious, he was at the top of the class achieving first,second or third in class. He also received Most Outstanding Student Award, Luyechun, for Dawei District, Myanmar in his Matriculation. He was qualified to joined Rangoon Institute of Technology, Yangon, Myanmar in 1986. In 1988, as all the universities were closed, he went back home and had a chance to help his family business.
In 1988, he practiced meditation as a layman Yogi at Yay Mahasi Sasana Yeiktha and this experience helped him more interested in practice. In 1989, with his siblings, he was ordained as a Buddhist monk, under the supervision and guidance of Ven. Ghositarama Sayadawgyi. However, it was due to family duty, he had to be disrobed in order to keep on assisting his parents. In 1990, with wisdom of realization on aging, decay and death , he made several efforts to get the permissions from his parents in order to be ordained. With thorough explanation on death, his parents, finally, allowed him to join Sasana for good.
Therefore, with the assistance of some devotees from Yay Town, he reached at the foot of Most Ven Pa Auk Sayadawgyi. On 23 May 1991, he was ordained under the close supervision of Ven. Pa Auk Tawya Sayadawgyi for the second time in his life. He stayed at Pa Auk Tawya meditation center ( Main Center) till his 18th Vassa, 18th Year of Ordination.
There, he had an opportunity to learn Buddha Dhamma, both Patipatti ( Practice) and Pariyatti ( Study) under the guidance of Most Ven Pa Auk Sayadawgyi and other head sayadawgyis.
In addition, he had an opportunity to assist his preceptor Ven Pa Auk Sayadawgyi’s Abroad Sasana, in Malaysia, Singapore, United States of America, Japan, Sri Lanka, China, Macao, Hongkong, England, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand. He spent his 19th Vasa at Nibbinda Monastery, Pa Auk Branch, in Penang, Malaysia.
Since his 20th Vassa, he has been given responsibility for Dawei Pa Auk Tawya meditation center,Since his 28th Vassa, he become also as the abbot of Tamansari PATVDH, Pa Auk branch, Bogor, Indonesia.
As Abroad trips, he went to Indonesia, Vietnam, Macao, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, United States of America, Canada and he has been spending his 32nd Vassa at Tamansari PATVDH, Bogor, Indonesia in this 2022 year. He gives frequently online Dhamma and Vinaya talks in English with some languages assistants.
