
Venerable Sayadaw U Dhamma Sara
Venerable U Dhamma Sara Born in 1974 in Einme Township, Irawaddy, Myanmar, Ashin Dhamma Sara ordained as a novice monk (samanera) after he graduated from high school at the age of 18 in 1993.
He received the higher ordination as a Bhikkhu on 30th April 1994. From 1993 to 2004, Ashin studied pariyatti (Buddhist Scriptures). He spend one year in the monastery at his hometown six years in Sasana Alin Yaung pariyetti Monastery, Dawpon , Yangon and four years in Mahāvisudhārāma Monastery at Mandalay.
From 2004 to 2007, Ashin learned and practiced meditation under the guidance of Venerable Pa-Auk Tawya Sayadaw Bhaddanta Acinna (Sayadawgyi) at Pa-Auk Tawya Monastery at Mawlamyine. Following that, Ashin also attended various long term meditation retreats conducted by Sayadawgyi at Pa-Auk Tawya Monastery and other retreat centres in Indonesia and Malaysia.
Since 2007, Ashin has been teaching meditation: 2007 to 2008 at Pa-Auk Tawya, Thanlyin (Yangon) ; vassa in 2009 at Pa-Auk Tawya, Pa An, Karen State; from July 2010 until June 2012 at Pa-Auk Tawya, Thanlyin; from July 2012 onwards at Pa-Auk Tawya, Rempang, Batam (Indonesia ).
The Venerable is fluent in Myanmar and English . He has given Dhamma talks and led meditation retreats in many countries including Myanmar , Singapore , Malaysia , Indonesia , Vietnam , Cambodia , Sirilanka , Thailand , Nepal , India and USA .
Ashin Dhamma Sara obtained his B.A degree from Distance University Tāva, Yangon in 2008 and Sāsanadhaja Dhammācariya degree from Ministry of Religious Affairs , Government of Union of Myanmar in 2012.
